The University of Victoria

Completed in June 2006, the lecture auditoriums of UVic's Engineering/Computer Science building, found on the first floor, will host the 3PGCIC-2012 Sessions.

As illustrated below, the Engineering/Computer Science building is one of the first buildings you drive by as you enter campus from the intersection of Cedar Hill Cross Rd and Henderson Rd.

Parking

This is a parking lot map of the available parking space at UVic.

Please take note of the following:

  • Day and hourly parking permits are available from dispensers at a rate of $1/hour to a maximum of $6/day;
  • Parking rates are in effect 24 hours a day Monday through Saturday;
  • There is no charge for parking on Sundays at all lots except the Ian Stewart Complex and the University Centre parkade;
  • Dispensers for hourly/day permits are conveniently located in all numbered lots outside Ring Road, including the Ian Stewart Complex lot. They accept quarters, $1 coins, $2 coins, VISA and Mastercard;
  • Parking Lot number 1 is best location to leave the car since it is closest to Engineering/Computer Science building (ECS).

Travel to Victoria

Shuttle and Taxi From Victoria International Airport

There is a shuttle bus that runs to/from downtown/airport every 1/2 hour. Per person cost is CAD$21 to/from any downtown hotel. Inquire at the AKAL counter at the luggage pickup area.

There is a taxi stand outside of the terminal (exit luggage pickup area). Average fare is about CAD$60 to/from downtown/airport.

Driving From Vancouver

Take the Swartz Bay ferry from Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal. The sailing takes 1 hr 35 minutes, plus 15 minutes offloading time.

As you exit the ferry, you will be on the Patricia Bay Highway #17 south. After approximately 25 minutes, take the McKenzie Avenue exit. Turn left onto McKenzie Avenue and continue for 7 km. Turn right onto McGill Road, at the main UVic entrance, just in front of Centennial Stadium.

From Victoria International Airport

Victoria Int'l Airport is located off Highway 17, about 30-40 minutes north of the university. When driving from the airport, follow the signs to Victoria; they will lead you south onto Highway 17. After approximately 25 minutes, take the McKenzie Avenue exit. Turn left onto McKenzie Avenue and continue for 7 km. Turn right onto McGill Road, at the main UVic entrance, just in front of Centennial Stadium.

From Vancouver International Airport to downtown Victoria via Ferry

Board PCL coach (Pacific Coast Lines) at Bus Terminal at Vancouver Airport, directly outside Arrival Area. Coach bus will take passengers straight on to the ferry at Vancouver ferry terminal (Tsawwassen). The ferry ride is approximately 1 hr 30 minutes (luggage remains on the locked coach, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful scenery from the upper decks of the ferry without worry). The PCL coach will then take passengers from the Victoria ferry terminal (Swartz Bay) to downtown Victoria. Schedule and Fares information may be found at:

Ferry from Seattle and Port Angeles

You will dock in Victoria's inner harbour. Follow Belleville St. east to Blanshard St. Turn north onto Blanshard, and follow it for about 5 km then turn right onto McKenzie Avenue and continue for about 7 km. Turn right onto McGill Road, just in front of Centennial Stadium.

Ferry from Anacortes

You will dock in Sidney, about 30 km north of the university. Follow the signs to Highway 17 (Victoria). Turn left/south onto the Highway. In approximately 20 minutes take the University of Victoria/ McKenzie Avenue exit. Turn left onto McKenzie Avenue then continue for approximately 7 km. Turn right onto McGill Road, just in front of Centennial Stadium.
