I was an ICREA Research Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya , in the Llenguatges i Sistemes Informàtics Department since January 2006. Although I remain Profesor Asociado at UPC, my ICREA position has been transferred to the University of Barcelona in the EVENT Lab. I founded the Virtual Environments and Computer Graphics group in the Department of Computer Science, University College London, where I still have several projects and PhD students.

My major interest is in helping to find out what makes virtual reality work for people - in the sense that they can engage with one another in virtual environments, and also interact with virtual characters. This research, the study of 'presence' in virtual environments, is also explored in the context of psychotherapy for social phobia and other related applications. We have a an active, thriving, and expanding team, and if you're interested in working with us, please do make contact.
