 Travels > UK

This tiny page is to do a little journey across the places I've visited while I was in UK (working in part of my PhD thesis)...

Note: this is only a first version of the page made in a hurry... I hope to get some time to expand it soon!.

Let's go!!

Bath:

To start this journey let me show you the Roman Baths that give Bath it´s name. Now-a-days there´s a museum that is worth the time and the bucks.

In the photo, the main chamber of the baths.

University of Bath:

This is the place I spent most of my time in UK. Cool, isn´t it?

The Campus has LOTS of green areas, forest and sport courts... unfortunatelly I had to be almost the whole day inside a building infront of a computer...

In the photo, the pond of the University, a good area to relax....

Stonehenge:

No more words needed.. don´t you think?

Salisbury:

The Salisbury Cathedral is one of the most prominent in UK. One of the most amazing facts is that it was built in only 38 years!!

In the photo, the front side of the Cathedral.

Lacock:

Lacock is a small village plenty of old traditional houses. While walking through their streets you can feel that you are centuries ago... until you see all those modern cars that break the mirage... damn!

In the photograph, one of the streets... and me caught in the act of eating an icecream...

Wookey Hole Caves:

Located in a small village in the south-east of Bristol, these caves are really amazing! The tour inside several chambers built in the rock by water make you feel like a man in the stone age... and the shapes the rocks can take can be breathtaking. You can take photos with no flash... I tried some shots into the caves, but the photos are not good, so here I scanned a post-card that depicts one of the chambers...

Weston Super Mare:

I´ve been told that this is one of the best beachs in the british coast... but I don´t see the "super mare" (super-sea)... in Spain we have beachs far better than this!

Cardiff:

I also have been outside the Bristol nearby.Cardiff is the main city of Wales, but it´s not too far from Bristol.

Maybe I should place here the tipical photo of the Cardiff Castle, but rather I prefer this one. The weird building on the right is the  stadium of Cardiff's rugby team.

London:

Here you have another tipical "I´ve been there" photograph.

London is 2 hours and a half away from Bath. The center of London is not so huge, so I walked along and across the "city" for some hours.

Just in case you didn´t recognize it, the building in the background is the Parliament, with it´s world-famous Big Ben...

York:

York is the farthest city I visited. It´s 5 hours away (by car) from Bath. It has lots and lots of things to see, but here I´ve chosen one of it´s streets, with some old houses. Note that the houses seem to be falling into the street.

... and meeting some friends

To end this quick view of  my stay in UK, let me introduce you some of the wonderful people I met there...

The pals in the Maths/Computing Science Department:

These are the ones that had to suffer my dreadful english and my worse goal-keeping!

From left to right and top to bottom: Mark, Jon, Pete, Adam, Rich, Andy H, Andy W., Sergio, me and Marc

The people in the University Residence:

Well at least the ones that weren´t upset to pose for a photo with me!

From left to right: Fei, Shinobu, Caroline, Tomoko and me.

The new Spanish Generation:

As I was leaving, some spanish students arrived to "switch places" (Bath would be so sad with no spaniards... don´t you think?).

They will stay there for several months in the University of Bath. So gals, beware of them! (just joking!).

From left to right: Walter, Marc and me.
