Last Newsletter during the school year 2007-08
It was six months ago that this new communication initiative started at the Software Department. +LSI first number just showed a first sample of what is becoming a source of communication from and to the community around the LSI department.
We aimed at gaining visibility and reconnecting with a wider audience, including future students and researchers as well as alumni. We hope to give some publicity to new start-ups created by people in our department. We also wanted to spark interest among companies, institutions and professional institutions in our environment. We wanted to show that LSI not only contributes to the common pool of knowledge as any scientific and technologic endeavour but also we wanted to show that this knowledge has practical interest.
We think we are on the right track. The +LSI Newsletter has been continuously showcasing the new research that is done at the department, new companies that are being created and the recognition gained by department members in the form of awards for papers and conference contributions. We also have initiated collaborations with other online publications that open up the possibility to reach wider audiences especially in the professional IT sector. We are preparing several other agreements with other media that will enlarge even more the reach of +LSI. And we are preparing several other initiatives and gathering formats to increase interaction with +LSI target audiences.
We hope that you enjoy this issue as much as you have the previous ones. And we just wish you a happy summer holiday. +LSI will be back on September. We hope you come back with full energies and with a renovated drive to innovate, do research, create, think and enjoy. We will keep communicating all your endeavours and projects.
