Marc Galceran is a FIB graduated who is working on his PhD Thesis within the ALBCOM group under professor Jordi Cortadella's supervision. Marc is back at UPC after being twice in the USA. In 2006 he followed an exchange program with Georgia Technology University in Atlanta and he is back now after a working gig at INTEL in Hillsboro, Oregon.

The technology of the MOVING group will allow us to look deep into the past through one of the Catalan Romanesque jewels. A polygon model of almost two hundred million polygons, one of the most complex ever built, reconstructs all the details and colours of the famous facade in the Monastery of Ripoll, an true Bible of stone. This model will be on display at MNAC next May and it will be one of the stars sharing its hiperrealism with other Romanic pieces from the museum.

Alfredo Vellido, principal researcher of the AIDTumour Project, works transdisciplinary. He and his colleagues aim to design and develop a decision support system to assist the diagnosis of brain cancer patients. This initiative is good news, in a country that lags behind in terms of translational and clinical initiatives for the development of these technologies.

The GIE research group gathers more than twenty professors and PhD students. They work hard on four large research fields: quantitave evaluation of biomaterials, led by professor Dolors Ayala; Visualization of time-varying multimodal data and virtual tools for teleneurorehabilitation, led by professor Daniela Tost and Computerized Simulation of surgical processes, led by professor Robert Joan. The latter one will interest at least 30% of men over 50.

From March 5th to March 29th a revamped version of the successful exhibition “Computing Antiques” will be on show at l’Illa Diagonal in Barcelona, a venue visited but thousands every day. A wider audience will be able to see curious and important relics of computing gathered by LSI professors Jordi Delgado and J.A. Pastor with the help of many others.
