BRIEF BIO

I received my degree in Physics from the Department of Electronics and Automatic Control of the University of the Basque Country (Spain) in 1996. Then I moved to Liverpool, in the UK (John Moores University), with a Leonardo grant from the EC. After a year doing research in medical applications of neural networks, I started a PhD in the area of business applications (e-commerce) of neural networks, which was completed by 2000. After a year of postdoc during which I consulted for Unilever company, I moved back to Spain and worked with iSOCO, in Barcelona, for a year. This was followed by a year jumping back and forth between Liverpool and Barcelona, working as research officer for John Moores University, where I was involved in a project in the field of computational neurosciences.

In my near past life, from 2003 to 2008, I was a Ramón y Cajal postdoc researcher at UPC in Barcelona (with the Soft Computing Group at the LSI department).

From 2008, I am an associate professor at the UPC Engineering Campus in Terrassa, Barcelona. From there, I juggle several projects that are described  in the research page and also teach a couple of master courses on data mining and computational neuroscience on top of undergraduate teaching.
